Are Believers Eternally Secure? | Can You Lose Your Salvation? | Getting the Gospel Right
Can a genuine Christian lose their salvation? Does the Bible teach eternal security, or must believers continually maintain their salvation?
In this episode of Relentless Truth, John Warren continues the series Getting the Gospel Right with a careful examination of one of Christianity's most important and frequently debated doctrines: the eternal security of the believer.
Some passages in Hebrews appear to warn that believers can fall away from God. But do these warnings actually teach that a person who has trusted Jesus Christ can lose eternal life?
John examines these challenging passages in their biblical, historical, and grammatical contexts, emphasizing the importance of interpreting Scripture with Scripture.
Particular attention is given to Hebrews 6:4–6, a passage frequently cited by those who reject eternal security. John considers the original audience, the significance of falling away, and the distinction between spiritual failure and the loss of salvation.
The discussion then turns to the finished work of Jesus Christ and the extraordinary promises found in Hebrews concerning His once-for-all sacrifice and the eternal redemption He secured.
In this episode, you'll discover:

The Central Question
If Jesus Christ secured eternal redemption through His finished work on the cross, can that redemption ever become temporary?
John explains why he believes Scripture teaches that salvation is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and is eternally secure because of the sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice—not the believer's ability to maintain it.
This episode is the first of two lessons devoted specifically to examining eternal security through the book of Hebrews and other New Testament passages.
